Tagged as an endangered species category the blue whale (balaenoptera musculus) is a marine mammal belonging to the baleen whales. Ranging up to 30 meters in length and approximately 170 tonnes or more, the blue whale is the largest existing animal in the world. Their tongues alone can weigh as much as an elephant. They occasionally swim in small groups but mainly they are found alone or in pairs.
